The Result 2007
The expectations were high and the North East Martial Arts Community were a credit to themselves.
High ranking Instructors of all disciplines put the 200 or so students through there paces.
Any potential ego's were firmly left at the door and politics never came into it.
Various Kung Fu, Karate, Aikido, Jiu Jitsu to name a few all mixed and trained together resulting in a relaxed and friendly atmoshere.
The event was kicked off by a few introductory words by local MP Stephen Hepburn followed by a warm up session by Steve Youngman.
The group was then split into 4 groups, 2 adults and 2 kids.
This meant that at any one time 4 different styles were being taught.
The opportunity was also there for any Instructor to train if they wished to, which many did, or just meet old aquaintances, make new friends, discuss martial arts and swap ideas.
Half way we had a 30 minute break, at this point to keep everyone in the mood Jon Stokoe and his students very kindly gave an Aikido demonstration.
A raffle was drawn by Daniel Squires himself. The prizes donated were excellent, DVD's, kickshield, T'shirts etc followed by an auction consisting of a punch bag donated by Dave Nicod and hand made swords donated by Peter Seth.
Daniel was presented with a cheque for £1450, which was taken on the door, but there was also the £129 made from the auction to collect and the cheque for £150 from the event sponsor " Martial Arts Warehouse ".
So the total for the day was £1729.
After that it was back down to business and another 2 hours training.
At the end everyone lined up and all the Instructors were asked to come to the front at which point Steve Youngman thanked everyone for turning up and the Instructors for giving there time.
To summarise, it was a superb day for a very worthy cause and the response was excellent resulting in many asking Steve Youngman if he would consider organising another event in the future. If you were there please give Steve some feedback via the guest book and many thanks on behalf of Daniel and his famiily.
